I’m a recovering Perfectionist…and my bet is you probably are too.
(If not, this article series on escaping perfectionism can help you recover as well!)
Lately though, I’ve been in a groove where I’m striving for excellence and not perfection, where I do my best and not worry about the things that may not matter and steer me off course.
In doing so, I found some very inspirational quotes that have helped me on this journey to excellence and everything is working out perfectly, pun intended! 🙂
I use these when I need motivation, inspiration, a kick in the butt, or simply a reminder that there is no such thing as ‘being perfect.’
So I share these with you in hopes that you, too, are inspired and get in the mindset of personal excellence versus perfection.

Too many of us wait to do the perfect thing, with the result we do nothing. The way to get ahead is to start now. While many of us are waiting until conditions are ‘just right’ before we go ahead, others are stumbling along, fortunately ignorant of the dangers that beset them. If you start now, you will know a lot next year that you don’t know now, and that you will not know next year, if you wait. ~The William Feather Magazine
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ~Mark Twain
First ask yourself: What is the worst that can happen? Then prepare to accept it. Then proceed to improve on the worst. ~Dale Carnegie
Nothing is perfect. Life is messy. Relationships are complex. Outcomes are uncertain. People are irrational. ~Hugh Mackay
The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself. ~Anna Quindlen
Today, you have the opportunity to change everything. Your whole life hinges on today’s actions. You have two choices: you can choose to act, or continue to wait. ~Sid Savara
What I am is how I came out. No one’s perfect and you just have to accept your flaws and learn to love yourself. ~Kelly Brook
Heroes are never perfect, but they’re brave, they’re authentic, they’re courageous, determined, discreet, and they’ve got grit. ~Wade Davis
The need to be perfect is simply a noise, albeit a loud and crippling one I might add, that stifles our creativity, our freedom, and ultimately, our lives. ~Yours truly, Kesha Brown
