Raise your hand if:
- You know struggle
- You’ve been discriminated against
- You know you’ve taken things for granted
- You’ve had a case of mistaken identity (internally)
- All you want is to love and be loved…
All hands should be raised!
Struggle, love, and hope are universal. It’s what I found most satisfying in the book, Finding Zoe: A Deaf Woman’s Story of Identity, Love, and Adoption, the reminder that regardless of who we are, we CAN rise above and successfully overcome obstacles life throws our way.
But this is not just a story about a deaf woman and adoption, nooooooo. Far from it! It’s an inspiring story about fitting out and fitting in, adversity and strength, and love and hope.
What I like most about it is there are so many themes – from deaf culture, discrimination, unexpected teen pregnancies, and of course adoption to love, identity, struggle, and self-acceptance – all themes each one of us can relate to!
Gail and Brandi have weaved a story so well written that while I was supposed to be sleeping on vacation, I was up reading this book to the last page! It’s simply one of those tear-jerking, heartwarming, endearing stories that will inspire you to really pursue your dreams. Yep, it’s that good. 😉
