While sitting in Panera Bread getting ready to have a mini-mastermind with a couple of my girls, an older guy walks over and introduces himself.
Now, you never know who people are and if they’re gonna be weird or creepy or just annoying but I gotta tell ya, this guy (his name is Wendell) was an absolute delight!
He told us he is 81 years old and said he’s happy he’s still getting around pretty well AAAANNNDDDD he even serenaded us with a beautiful baritone voice!
He then proceeds to give us each a card with a poem, his information on it along with some scriptures as he says he’s all about spreading the gospel.
I was impacted so much by his poem that I wanted to share it with you. I hadn’t heard this one before but it’s one that I will forever remember to check my life’s choices! 🙂
Tonight – and every night, I want you to take these words and answer EACH question honestly and see where you fall. Can you do better tomorrow? Can you do something different to make your tomorrow an even brighter one? I challenge you to do so!!! I DARE YOU!
At the Close of the Day…Life’s Poetry
Is anybody happier because you passed his or her way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to him or her today?
The day is almost over, and its toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter now a kind word of you?
Can you say tonight as you part with the day that’s slipping fast;
That you might have helped a single person of the many you may have passed?
Is there one heart rejoicing over what you might have done or said?
Does the man or woman whose hopes were fading, now with courage, look ahead?
Did you let the day be wasted, or use it wisely?
Wherever you went, was it well or sorely spent?
As you lie down for sleep tonight, what do you think God will say?
Might it be you have earned one more tomorrow, by the way you lived today?
Over to you…
What do you think of the poem? Great, eh? So will you ask yourself these questions tonight? If you so dare, please share an answer or two!
Have you earned one more tomorrow?
